Johnson Controls Unitary Products has re-announced a voluntary inspection and upgrade of select model manufactured housing gas furnaces. The models are:

These furnaces were manufactured between 1995 thru 2000 and sold under the brand names of Coleman, Coleman Ecvon and Red T.

A number of premature heat exchanger failures on these furnaces have been reported. The furnaces involved in these reports were found to have heat exchanger cracking, burn through and in extreme cases, furnace wrapper burn through.

These situations, if left unresolved, can lead to significant property damage, personal injury or death.

The cause of these failures typically has been found to be attributed to application of the furnace beyond normal rated specifications combined with component part variation.

To address this problem, Johnson Controls Unitary Products is providing an inspection and upgrade program for any furnace effected. The inspection and upgrades will be performed by any Coleman dealer or Service Center that has elected to participate in the program. AEM Mechanical Services, Inc. is such a dealer.

A partial labor credit and upgrade kit parts are provided by the furnace manufacturer. Shipping costs may apply. Call us for more details.

To Arrange For your Furnace Inspection & Upgrade:

  1. Verify you have one of the select models involved by looking at the rating label on your furnace. First, carefully remove the front access panel; the rating label is located on the inside front panel of the furnace.

  2. If the furnace model number on the label matches one of the models listed above, your furnace may be eligible. If your furnace does not match, your furnace is NOT INVOLVED and no further action is required.
